Ahh, the summer picnic. O.K., maybe the images of wicker baskets packed with food, red and white checkered tablecloths and trying to tie the dog up far enough away from the food sounds a little Norman Rockwell. But a picnic is still a wonderful way to get out outdoors and connect with friends over a delicious afternoon of food and drink.

The key to the successful picnic is in the planning. You need the right picnic spot, the right supplies and of course the right food. I recently wrote an article on picnic planning for The Latin Kitchen detailing all those essentials. You’ll even find a suggested picnic menu and recipes for Peruvian Golden Herb Quinoa Salad and Mexican Chocolate Brownies to help you kickstart your picnic prep. Find the article here.
