It has been a busy few months. So, busy that I haven’t had the chance to post about #KipCamp, aka the Kiplinger Program.
The Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs is an intense weeklong dive into online tools at Ohio State University in Columbus. Every year, the Kiplinger Program selects about 30 journalists from across the country and around the world to participate and this past year I was luckily enough to one of them. The bios of the April 2014 fellows are available on the Kip Camp website and there’s a Twitter list.
Back in April, I spent a week at Ohio State, lodging, most meals included with travel stipend and got to learn and discuss new media will fellow journalists.
The week started off with a cocktail hour, dinner and the chance to meet Knight Kiplinger. The next day Kiplinger lead everyone in a discussion on media ethics and the future of media. From there the days were broken up into different hands-on seminars. I’m still going through playing with all the new apps I was made aware of, starting to actually like video editing and have better ideas on how to manage my time to use all those new media tools.
It was a great week not just for the seminars but also for the chance to meet other journalists who love digital and see and here what they are doing. The wide variety of backgrounds meant there was always something to learn from someone else.
